Hudson River Residence - Progress Report

Comment

Selective demolition is well underway at the Hudson River Residence!

This High Victorian Gothic mansion built in 1871, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, requiring that the home's original architectural elements be preserved.

In order to bring the house to its original glory, Dirk Denison Architects and its consultants are performing a thorough restoration work of its impressive masonry exterior, as well as conducting an extensive renovation of the interior of the house.

As you can see in these photos, the landscape around the house has been cleared (including a massive wisteria vine that covered most of the house), some damaged windows have been removed, and the interior is down to the studs in most of the rooms.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project!

Office Renovation - Furniture Delivery

The renovation of this office in downtown Chicago is nearing completion!
Today most of the furniture is being delivered, and assembly will take place this week. There are stacks of furniture pieces everywhere, and although everything seems a bit chaotic, the pieces are all carefully labeled and things are running very smoothly.

Office RENO - Update!

For the renovation of this office suite, which we designed 7 years ago, we created a new open workspace between the perimeter offices and the core.  Seen in the photo below, we altered the office wall, maintaining the clerestory but adding cabinets along the corridor.  The white cabinets, combined with the borrowed light, combine to brighten this embedded space.
